Here Comes the Bride

Happy Friday everyone.  Sorry I have been remiss in posting.  I just haven't had the where-with-all this week.  I know you know what I mean.  But, today, I have been feeling much more creative.  I wanted to share with you a card that I made for my nephew's soon-to-be wedding.  I actually started making this card for his fiance's shower which is in two weeks.  Then after I made it, I felt like it would be a much better wedding card.  I still have another card in mind for the shower.  I guess I  better get started on it.  Time is slipping away.   I found the template for this design on line and will give  you the info. Here is card:
I really like this template.  I used a blue background because her wedding colors are going to be blue.  I used Stampin' Ups bridal paper and half pearls.  This is the website where I found the template: http://www.stampndesign.blogspot.com/  I was going to make the card bigger and add a sentiment and some ribbon, but it didn't work out very well so I ended up shortening the card.  The sentiment is inside.

Here is a close up of the bridal paper:

Well, that's all for right now!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings

Terri

Two for Tuesday!

Hello everyone!  I am so excited about what  I have for you today.  I got up this morning and made my card for Mojo 131.  This week's template calls for a long card.  My card is 9 inches long by 4 inches wide and uses a standard No. 10 envelope.  Now, the only No. 10 envelopes I have are those ugly white ones with the blue imprint on the inside.  You know the ones for sending bills, yuk!    Ooops, I  don't want to get ahead of myself.  Let me add pictures as I go along.  Here is my card for Mojo 131:

I really liked making this card.  As you can see, it is almost twice as long as the normal cards I make. And, Iam still using Easter sentiments since I still have a few more Easter cards to make.
Here's my recipe:  (all items SU!)
 Stamp:  Happy Moments, Well Scripted
Tea party DSP
Pretty in Pink, So Saffron (std cardstock)
Ribbon:  Pretty in Pink satin
Accessories:  Watercolor crayons
oval cutter, std and scallop (nestabilities)
My card varies slightly from the original template in that my ribbon and sentiment are on the top vice the bottom.  I should have moved my flower stamp up a little more.  But that's OK.  That's why it's called a template and it can be deviated from.

So, back to my problem with the envelopes.  I started looking on the web for envelope tutorials and found this wonderful, wonderful site.  It is the best envelope tutorial I have seen around, because there is no measuring.  You have got to check it  out for yourself.  Click here to view the tutorial.  I bookmarked it for future reference!  For my envelope, I used some paper I had bought at my local craft store, on sale.  Here is the envelope:
I took two views, both are with the flap open.  I actually punched the envelope flap for decoration.  I used my tombow tape to seal the envelope.  Now, by using scrapbook paper or almost anything else, you can make your own adorable envelopes in no time flat.  AND... they don't have to be white!!!!!  That is the best part!!!  One of the other amazing things about the above tutorial, is that she shows you how to take larger envelopes and make them smaller to fit your card.  She is a genius!!  Plus, she tells you how to get free envelopes.  A definite MUST SEE video!

Can you tell  how excited I am about this post!!  I have so enjoyed my morning making  my card and sharing all the wonderful things  I have learned.  There are so many smart and talented people out there.  I love learning!!

Well, that's all for today.  I really, really need to do some house cleaning.  I have been neglecting it for cardmaking.  Oh well, I'm living life to it's fullest!!  The dust will just come back, hahahaha!

Many blessings to you all!!

Terri

P.S.  If you're interested in starting to stamp or expanding your inventory, please don't hesitate to visit my Stampin' Up website.  The sale-a-bration is still going on for one more week!

Thanks again!

Bubbly Monday!

Good Monday morning to everyone.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  It was fabulous here in Virginia.  We had 70 degree weather and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I'm glad I took advantage of it because, it is raining today.  But that's ok.  You can't have beautiful  spring flowers without the rain.  I'm excited about  showing you the card I have for today.  It was totally unexpected.  The  inspiration for this card came from this ad we received in the mail:
So, can you guess which part of this ad was the inspiration?  Pretty obvious I'm sure.  Here's my card:

What do you think?  I love all the colors.  I just wish I had had smaller circle punches.  The smallest I had was 5/8" inch.  I will have to put smaller circle punches  on my shopping list.  I just went through all of my SU paper and tried to find the brightest colors that somewhat matched the ad.  I really didn't have a stamp that I thought went with this card, so I did the next best thing.  I used my computer and created my own sayings.  I did use one stamp and that was from SU called Circle Circus.  I love this stamp set. It is the smaller bubbles in the sentiment. I wanted to use this set to make the card, but it just wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. This goes to show you that even without a stamp set, you can make a great card.

I'll be working on my Mojo Monday  card today.  Hopefully, it will be ready for you tomorrow.  I also have a card to show you tomorrow that is a previous Mojo sketch.  I love it.  I hope you will too. Have a great Monday!

Blessings,

Terri

Mojo 130

Happy Friday everyone!  Here I am again posting a Mojo Monday on a Friday.  I think I need to get better at this!  It just seems that when Monday is arrivews,  I have other projects in the works that I have to finish first.  As if now, I have no other projects, so my goal is to put Mojo Monday on the front burner come Monday! We'll see.  So here's my Mojo 130.

I really loved this sketch.  Once I finished this one, I decided that the smaller square and the circle needed a mat.  I think I'm going to make another card, different paper, etc., and try matting them.  I'll post that one eventually and we'll see the difference.

The paper I used was from the Spring/Summer 09 catalog, Washington Apple DSP.  The sentiment is Well Scripted  ( I love this set - see it here!)

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I'll be seeing you Monday!

Blessings,

Terri

Simple Birthday

Hi everyone.  It's almost Friday, yay!   The weekend  is almost here.  This is the weekend I get to see Bounty Hunter.  I'm looking forward to it.

Here is a simple card I made today for my nephew's birthday.  It is very simple and didn't take long.  His birthday is actually today.  I'm a little behind.  I did send him a text message to wish him a happy birthday and to let him know the card was in the mail.  And by that, he knows "the check" is in the mail.  That's why I didn't go to alot of trouble making an elaborate card.  He'll take the money and toss the card.  Boys will be boys.

That's all I have for today.  I hope you have a great weekend.

Blessings,

Terri

Music of the Heart

Hello everyone!  Today, here in VA, we have sunshine!  YAY!  We haven't seen that for a while!  I have a very special card to share with you today.  It is one I made a while back.  I am planning on sharing some of my cards with a fellow demonstrator who I went to high school with.  I just found out she is a demonstrator and we decided to trade cards.  This is one I am going to send her.  It has much significance to me.  I'll share that with you, but first, here's the card:

When I first saw this SU stamp, I knew I had to have it.  Music has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember.  The friend and fellow demonstrator I am sending this to was a fellow church youth choir member.  I sang in the youth choir for five years.  It was a wonderful group of young people.  The statement on the card, "Music expresses that which cannot be said", is so true for me and for so many people.  Music moves the heart and soul.  It has always been that way for me. It can soothe; it can uplift; it can cause reflection....  I could go on and on about the power of music.  I know that it is more powerful for some than for others and I am thankful I believe I am one of those people that it is so powerful too.  Music, especially spiritual music, has always been a part of my life.  There is another saying that goes something like this: A song is the prayer that our heart sings when we cannot find the words."  I wish I could remember the exact quote, but I am sure you get the meaning.  Music is a very powerful, spiritual thing.  Just take a look....

"Bring me now a minstrel... and it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon Elisha." II Kings 3:15."

I went to a Baptist college in Georgia, Brewton Parker College, and I sang in the choir.  It was one of the highlights of my life.  We sang some very powerful music (Christian).  We lived, ate, and breathed music.  For me, to sing was literally breathing.  I know my fellow choir mates would say the same thing.  I can think back and remember, we would even sing in the stairwell as we were standing in line for meals.  It was great!  We were always, always singing!!

Thanks for traveling down memory lane with me. I hope some of it inspired you and that music touches your heart!

Blessings,

Terri

Monday Happiness

Good Monday to everyone.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I didn't end up going to the movies after all. The movie I wanted to see doesn't start until this Friday.  The movie is Bounty Hunter with Jennifer Aniston.  It looks like it is going to be funny.  As my husband stated, he hopes we haven't seen the best parts during the previews.
Here is my card for today. I have used the Cottage Wall DSP again.  It is sooo pretty.  I love using it.  Purple is one of my favorite colors.  I saw this card on Splitcoast Stampers website and decided to CASE it. I hope you like it.                                      Here is the Recipe:  Paper: Cottage Wall DSP Stampin' Markers: old olive, orchid opulence Stamps:  Kind and Caring Thoughts, Warm Words   Accessories:  Birds and Flowers Embosslits, scallop border punch, rhinestone brads, white satin ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Blessings,

Terri
