Birthdays Abound

Whew! Another birthday card. I have noticed there seems to be an inordinate amount of people I know who have birthdays in the winter months. I was told it was because spring is the time for love. Hmmm... that could be a legitimate answer. Anyway, I made this card for a friend of mine who also volunteers at Micah. Her birthday is today. I will be seeing her on Friday to give it to her. Technique Tips:
I wanted to show you a close up of the butterfly:

- This is the first time in a long time that I have used my Copic markers. I only used two colors. The little bit of reddish purple you see is actually smeared ink from the stamped image. I used the wrong kind of ink, but I like the effect! I think the little pearl flowers really show off the body of the butterfly too!
I placed Very Vanilla ribbon under the Garden Trellis punch out so that it would stand out more. It seemed to disappear into the paper without it.

I almost forgot, this card's layout uses the template from this week's SCS Sketch Number 370. You can see it HERE And last, but not least, I also based my design on someone elses card.... yes, you guessed it another Andrea Ewen creation. You can see her card.... well, you can't see it. I have searched and searched again to locate it on her web or in her SCS gallery and can't find it. I had printed out a picture of it for my use and I didn't save it. Sorry.

Butterly Birthday

I was attempting to make a belated birthday card for my Sister-in-love, Julie. I wasn't happy with the way it turned out, so, Julie.... this is not yours, lol! Here is my card:

I was attempting to case a card from Ann Sheffer, aka Pickled Paper Designs Here is a scanned copy of her card. I couldn't find it on her blog and I searched page after page after page. Sorry about the quality.

Now, you can see why I wasn't happy with mine, wah, wah, wah. :) I'll have to make a fresh start tomorrow on something new. Sorry, Julie. You're card us going to be a bit more late.

Happy New Year

Happy, happy new year to each and every one of you. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me this year. I hope you are too! I didn't make any new year resolutions. If I had, it would have been to try and make more cards for posting. We will see. Keep your fingers crossed! I hate making resolutions and not keeping them.

Since I've been so involved at Micah Ministries, it has been hard to keep up with my card making. I'll try to get and stay organized this year. Again... we'll see :)

Dad's Birthday 2011

I'm sharing with you today, a card I made for my father-in-law, whose birthday is in December. Since I'll be leaving for Georgia the first week of December, I had to make this before I left. I cased this card from the wonderfully talented Teneale Williams. Here is my version: (Click on any picture to see it larger)

Card Recipe: (all items SU)

Paper: Pear Pizzaz, Pear Pizzaz DSP, First Edition Speciality, Very Vanilla,

White, Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, French Filigree Bkgrd

Other: Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Antique brads, dimensionals,

edge distresser

Technique Tips:
- Center layers. All layers were distressed and sponged with soft suede. There are three layers:

Top layer: very vanilla

Middle layer: newsprint

Bottom layer: very vanilla.
- On the center piece I used dimensionals.

- The inside sentiment was stamped and cut out with the SU small oval and edged in soft suede. The reason I had to use another layer was because I had ink on the inside of the card and had to cover it up! Just making lemonade out of lemons, lol! I think it turned out alright.

As usual, when caseing someone else's card, I never have exactly the right ingredients, so you can see where I adjusted the look to make it mine.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I can hardly believe it is Thanksgiving the time is flying by. This year, for family, I made cards that were labor intensive. I thought it was going to take me forever to make them. Of course, I waited until the last minute, lol! I cased a card made by Candice. You can find her card HERE
Here is my card:

I changed only a couple of items from Candice's original. I changed the sentiment and used traditional colors for my leaves.

Card Recipe: (all items SU except where noted)

Stamps: Gently Falling, Always Thankful, En Francais, Sandy Speckles,

Give Thanks (Our Daily Bread Designs - inside card sentiment

Paper: White, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, watercolor paper

Ink: Black Stazon, More Mustard, So Saffron, Cajun Craze, Old Olive,

Early Espresso, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake

Other: Antique Brads, Victoria Lace Ribbon, Sticky Strip

Technique Tips:
    - En Francais is stamped on the background watercolor piece with Crumb Cake.
- Sandy Speckles was stamped on the sentiment panel. I used the crumb cake and stamped off once before stamping on the sentiment panel (I used very vanilla for this, not watercolor paper.
   - All the leaves were stamped with Brown Stazon and were watercolored using ink pads and an aqua painter.
   (While the ink pad is closed, squeeze the top and bottom together a few times so that the ink deposits onto the lid of the pad. Open the pad and swirl your aqua painter in the ink to wet it just a little. I find this makes the ink last longer and spread better on the paper.)
     - Cut out a 1/2" circle to attach your leaves to. I placed my circle where I wanted it and then attached the leaves.
     -Four leaves were fussy cut and attached to the1/2" circle. I used sticky strip to attach each leaf. I wanted to make sure they really stuck! I used the smaller of the leaves to place on top of the larger leaves to "hide" where they had been taped.
     - The ribbon is 3 3/4 inches folded in half and with trimmed ends.
     - I punched a hole through the card. I actually had to get out my old fashioned ice pick to make the hole big enough for the brad prongs to go through.
     - Fold the ribbon in half, slightly "v"ing the ribbon. Slip the brad through the ribbon and then into the card layers.
     - Attach to the card base and you are done.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. John and I are not able to go home this year, but we are going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving with a very special family. Micah has a special home, called Micah Respite Home. It is for our homeless who need to recuperate from surgery or an illness. We will be going there tomorrow to make Thanksgiving dinner for its current eight residents. It will be an exciting time. Pray that God will be with us and that our lights will shine!

Birthday For Barb

Hi everyone! Today, I'd like to share with you a card I made for my good friend, Barbara. Her birthday was Nov 5. I did get this card made in time. In fact, I actually made it on the day of her birthday and took it to her. That was a close one. I've got to make more birthday cards and keep them in my stash. However, you could say that by making them just prior to the person's birthday, you are creating just for that person and it means something special.

Tools: Pinking Hearts Border Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch,

Itty Bitty Shapes Punch, (SU), Fleur De Lis Pendants Die

(Spellbinders), Elegant Leaves Die (Verve)

Other: 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Old Olive (SU), 3/16" brads, Subtles (SU)

Very Vanilla Craft Ink, Black Ink, Flower Fantasy EF (Cuttlebug),

           Pearls, white, glue dots

Technique Tips:
     - The flowers on the front of the card were fussy cut. I stamped the flower from the Verve collection on the wrong side of the paper, so that when I turned it over, there would be no ink showing.
     - I used very vanilla white craft ink to stamp the center of the flower (green color) and then cut them out.
     -   A yellow brad was inserted into the center of the green cut out. I added a couple of glue dots to attach it to the card.
     - I probably wouldn't have added the little flower on the inside of the card, but somehow.... yay me.... I got ink on the card stock, so I needed something to cover it up. I hope it looks OK.
   - I also used a pen and wrapped each petal around it to give them a curve and lift. I know, by the time it gets there, they'll be flat again. But it does look good in the picture, lol!

Halloween Treats

I was off and running this week so to speak . I decided to make some Halloween treat bags for my fellow volunteers at Micah House. I decided on one that was pretty simple. I made an individual photo for the different Halloween papers I used. I hope you like them. Details will be at the end of the photos.

Recipe: (all items SU except where noted)

Stamps: Wicked Cool

Paper: Frightful Sight DSP, Wicked Fun (Ret'd), Rich Razzleberry,
Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, black, & skull paper is misc paper

bought at a local craft store

Ink: Cajun Craze, black, old olive and pumpkin pie

Other: Ribbon by Celebrate it, white paper bags, 3 1/2" wide

Punches: Lrg Oval, scalloped oval, Decorative Label, Top Note Die

Construction:

- Each bag is made up of two solid color top notes. One for the back and one for the front.

- Another top note is made using your patterned paper. This is cut in half length ways. Adhere one half of the patterned top note to the bottom half of your solid colored top note.

- Cut your white paper bag so it will fit slightly below the tip of the top note.

- Add tombow to one side of the white bag and then adhere it to one of the whole top notes. Add tombow to the other side of the white bag and adhere the second whole top note.

- Use your large oval punch and punch through all three layers (the two solid colored top notes and the white bag)

- Fill bag (I put in four of the mini sized Snickers)

- Secure bag with ribbon. (this is optional) You could also use glue dots or velcro.

And your done! Eazy, Peazy!

I can hardly believe I only have three posts for this month. I have been so busy. That is not normal for me. I usually have all kinds of time on my hands. I'm not complaining mind you.

The lack of entries to my blog may become the norm for me. I was asked by the person in charge of the Micah volunteers, if I would like to train to be an "In-Take" volunteer. These are the people who screen and process new people who are coming into Micah. I, of course, said yes. So, for now, I will be working at Micah Ministries three days a week. That leaves me even less time for card making and blogging. However, since I am spending time serving the Lord, I know you will understand and I hope you stick with me and I'll try to have as many new cards and posts as possible. I do have a couple already waiting in the wings. And... since it is the Holidays, I'll be making Thanksgiving and Christmas cards!

Morning by Morning

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm sitting here waiting on "the call" as to when my delivery will be arriving. You know how it works. At least it affords me time to sit and blog or craft! (I'm always trying to look for those silver linings!) The card I'm showing you today was totally inspired. I was fussing around the house and realized I needed to make a card. Everything just fell into place. The words on the front and in the inside are printed out using my computer. They were God inspired. I must have had something on my heart that morning and the Holy Spirit was speaking. I know, these particular words are not original. David used them many times in the Psalms. But that is the wonderful thing about the Living, Breathing, Word of God. The scripture comes back to us when we need it. This is not one verse in particular, just some of the language of the day. I hope it inspires you and reminds you that no matter what you are going through, God is there and in control!

Paper: Beau Chateau DSP, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

Other: Label punch, Spellbinders Oval nestibilities, dimensionals

Technique Tips:
- I sponged everything with Soft Suede. The original DSP on the chicken wire sheet is made to look like it is sponged. So, I decided to follow through and sponge everything else.

Happy 34th Anniversary

Hi everyone. I hope all of you have been well. Things here have been pretty busy. I hope to share some of it with you on later postings. The card I'm showing you today is one I made for my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law, Jim and Julie. They just celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. Praise the Lord! I would say that is a huge milestone by today's standards! Here is the card:

This card is definitely a simple one. I know it lacks all the layers and doodads a lot of my cards have. It just seems my mojo has been gone for awhile and I struggled just to get this done. I keep telling myself that simple is good too! Every card can't be grandiose even though I want them to be :)

Happy Wednesday everyone. You may be wondering where I have been. I'll give you the 411 after I show you my card. That way, if you don't really want to read the personal stuff, you can skip it. This is my submission for this week's splitcoast sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:

Card Recipe: (All items SU unless noted)

Stamps: Gently Falling (New to SU!)

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, DSP (name?)

Ink: Cajun Craze, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Lucky Limade

Other: Square Lattice EF, Antique brads, dimensionals

Non-SU:   Gold metallic pen, raffia

Technique Tips:
     - The yellowish background is actually one I made by sponging the following colors: Cajun Craze (lightly), So Saffron, Crushed Curry, and Lucky Limade.
     - I used a metallic Gold pen to trace the leaf lines. NOT a glitter pen, but an actual gold leaf pen. It makes a big difference in appearance. Here is a close up:

     - I used dimensionals under the chocolate chip strip because of the thickness of the raffia taped down underneath.
     - I used dimensionals under the leaves and added a double stack under the leaf you see to the left where it looks like it is slightly flipping up to give it more of a 3D effect.
     - I added the small touch of the antique brad just because I wanted to :)

That's it for the card, now on to the part where I tell you what I have been up to. On August 23, I began my first day of Volunteering for Micah Ecumenical Ministries in Fredericksburg.   You can find their website HERE Their mission scripture is Micah 6:8: "Who has showed you, oh man, what is good? And what does the Lord require of you? To do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God.
They are a very busy organization and do so many things behind the scenes that no one really knows about. I work on Tuesday and Thursday manning the reception desk. This means I check in clients in the computer and schedule appts for them to see counselors.

Each "client" is prescreened by the counselors and have to be totally homeless. Then they are given a Micah ID card. They can come in any day or every day, Mon-Fri, for breakfast and lunch, to get a hot shower, to stock up on toiletries, to get clothes, to make medical appts at free clinics, to sign up for free dental work, free haircuts....... you get the picture. However, it's not just those things. Our counselors try to work with them so that their journey ends with them becoming a productive citizen again.    If they are eligible, the counselors help them fill out forms to be able to receive food stamps, disability, or VA benefits. I actually experienced one of our clients getting keys to his new apartment yesterday. That was an exciting day.

I am really liking and enjoying what I am doing. It definitely fills a void in my life. I believe that God puts a desire in our hearts to serve him and to serve others. He said, Matthew 25:40
And the King shall answer and say unto them, `Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.'

I always consider how much God has done for me and my family and I know that it is only right to give back whenever possible.

Happy late Tuesday evening. I've been getting up ideas and materials for a card making session I'm having tomorrow, so this is the first time I've had available to sit down and add this post. This is a card I made for my sister-in-love Julie and her husband Jim. It is a heartfelt thank you card to say thank you for the wonderful time we had at their house and for the wonderful anniversary party they gave us. Of course, thank you was not generous enough for all they did for us and I told her so. Here is the card: (Click on any photo to see it larger)

I also have to say that this is another Becca Feekan card. Also known as Amazing Paper Grace. You can find her card HERE I know hers looks so much better. One of these days, I'm going to invest in the equipment (homemade of course) that makes the little photo tent that helps you take better pictures. As I was making the card, I didn't realize how many new Spellbinders dies she was using. And of course they haven't been released yet. She's one of the lucky ones who gets them in advance to promote them. Ahhh, maybe one day! Here is my recipe:

   Scalloped square and regular square nesties (Spellbinders
   Dimensionals, sponges, Big Shot

Technique Tips:
     - The scalloped squares on Becca's card is an actual die by Spellbinders call postage stamp - soon to be released. To make mine, I used scalloped square nesties. Once cut out, I used the smaller regular square, placed it in the center of the scalloped square and cut. I used them to focus on the words "thank" in the top square and "you" in the bottom square.
    -   If you look real close to the left of the newsprint DSP located underneath the pink cardstock, you will see a little square notched layer. That is another new spellbinder's die in which I recreated by using a 1/4 inch circle punch and punched about half way in. It was then distressed with the vintage photo distressing ink.
    - The white scalloped squares were distressed with the vintage photo distressing ink. They were also propped up on dimensionals.
    - The pink and flowered squares are propped up on dimensionals.

I must admit this card took me quite a while to make. It's hard looking at a photo and trying to decipher the sizes of all the many layers.   But it was well worth it.   I hope you like it too.

To my sister-in-love, Julie (who I know looks at my blog) thanks again from the bottom of our hearts. Words cannot express your thoughtfulness, your generosity, and the love you showed toward us! You are the best! I love you!

Mojo 203

It is unfortunate that the card I made using the MOJO Monday 203 sketch is a sympathy card. However, I will say that I believe this card was totally God inspired. While making this card not once did I get nervous, I never made a mistake (that is a miracle in itself) and the design flowed like water. It definitely was "Living Water". This card was made for a friend and fellow Sunday School classmate whose mother passed away this week. Here is the Mojo Monday 203 sketch:

Here is a close up of the details. Here you can see that I have two or three layers of each punch or cut out.

On the section below, I punched the border, then placed a pink strip under it and then I snipped away around the outer arches of the design so that only the background pink was showing through. It wasn't hard at all.

Unmounting Stamp Wheels

Hi everyone. Today, I am offering my organizational tip on unmounting and storing stamping wheels. I think you will find this approach advantageous to storage and allows an easier use of the stamps. First, let me say that I have been trying to unmount all my wood block stamps to provide me with more storage space. Here is a picture to show you why I am doing this:

These two boxes alone hold 92 envelopes. There is one stamp set to an envelope or many single stamps to an envelope. You will soon be seeing my madness behind this method. But can you image how much space 92 stamp sets would take up if they were still in the original clam shells? That is why I am unmounting mine. I hope this tutorial is easy to follow and makes sense. Now you are probably asking yourself, how doe she know where the stamps are and how does she keep up with them. Here is how.

I keep a xerox copy of my stamps in a big notebook. Each xerox copy is placed in a document protector. I have broken the notebook down into categories, i.e., backgrounds, borders, holidays, birthday. I break it down the way I think of stamps. Your way of thinking may be different. This is a look at how I categorize and cross-reference my wheel stamps.

Caseing Becca Feekan

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. John and I missed going to church this morning because he has strep throat and he's not getting better, so he is going back to the doctor tomorrow. Since I had so much time on my hands, I decided to make a card. And I have to say it seemed to take me forever to make this. It is a CASE of a Becca Feekan card. If you haven't seen her cards, you are in for a treat. She is AMAZING. No pun intended. (Her blog is called Amazing Paper Grace. You can find here blog HERE.
Becca's card I cased can be found HERE. This is my take on it:

I have to say again. Becca's cards are hard to recreate. She is so remarkable, talented and has, I believe, an endless supply of resources. She has been published numerous times and companies like Spellbinders, provide her with goods to use and to promote. So, enough of my whining, lol! Here is my recipe:

Paper: Girls Paperie (Now defunct), Regal Rose,= (SU)

Very Vanilla (SU), Music Notes

Stamps: French Foliage (SU) (used only on the inside)

Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo

Other: Pearls, dimensionals, Victoria Crochet Trim (SU)

Vanilla Seam Binding (SU)

Technique Tips:
     - I distressed the edges of everything.
     - I lightly distressed the floral paper all over. It was too bright to leave as is.
     - The pink background under the floral strips is on dimensionals.
     - The horizontal strip is on dimensionals.
     -   The rose in the middle was a creative mess. I used a 1" circle, layered glue on it and tried to wrap the ribbon from the inside out. It was a mess. It wasn't quite what I was looking for and looked nothing like Becca's but it came out ok.
     - The bow is vanilla seam binding ribbon with Regal Rose ink distressed on it. It also has five loops.
     - There is no sentiment on the outside. I left it blank intentionally so I could use it for whatever I needed it for.
     - The inside uses the French Foliage script and water drops. I love, love, love the French Foliage Stamp Set. Have I said that before? Probably. This is beginning to be my go to stamp for creating vintage cards. And it seems lately that Vintage is my thing!

I have one more Becca Feekan card I cased, but I have to wait a few days before I put it on my blog. It is a thank you card I made for my sister-in-love. I have to wait until she gets it before I post it, since she is a reader of my blog. Julie, you just have to wait!

So, for the next couple of posts, I have some organizational tips for you that I hope you will find interesting. I have been trying to do some consolidating organizing (does that make sense?) I'm trying to take items that take up a lot of room and package them so they take up less room. You'll see!

Anniversary Thank You

Finally, I finished all 19 thank you cards I needed to send everyone who came to our 25th Wedding Anniversary. There were two hard parts. One was coming up with a card idea. The second was redoing what I had already done due to not proofreading. You'll see what I mean in a second. Here is the front of the card.

I changed a couple of things to make mine easier for mass production and mailing. Here is my recipe:

Stamps: Medallion BG (SU), Hand Ink Letter BG (Dawn Houser

Ink: Sahara Sand, Black

Paper: Sahara Sand

Here is the inside:

The left side of the card is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. I just typed this with my computer and printed it out. I used the ticket corner punch for the corners. Then I stamped over the verses with the filigree stamp from the stamp set Creative Elements (SU). Here is a close up:

I also used Sahara Sand ink for this stamp. Simple, but thought it turned out nice. It is so much prettier in person. I mentioned earlier about time consuming. I had two typos in the verses. I had to retype, reprint, recut, and repaste a few. Which meant I had to take a few off. That was nerve wracking. The inside right where individual personal messages went had a couple of typos too and those had to be redone. Arghh..... It was quite an ordeal. Hopefully, next time, I'll be more diligent in the proofreading department.

25th Anniversary Party

Hello everyone. I just wanted to leave a quick note to let you know where I have been. My husband and I traveled to Buffalo, NY, this past week to visit his family. My wonderful Sister-in-love Julie, planned a 25th Wedding anniversary party for me and my husband to celebrate with all of his family. It was wonderful. Here is a couple pix:

This is me and my wonderful hubby of 25 years. The veil and hat were my sister-in-love's idea. Isn't it too cute! I loved it. Here is a pic of us with John's brother and his brother's wife Julie.

You can't tell they are brothers can you? lol! We spent four wonderful days with them. It was awesome. Julie went to a lot of time and trouble to do this for us and we appreciate it so very much. We were also blessed that all of his family who attended our first wedding party were in attendance this time. John has a few uncles in their mid 80's. Praise the Lord they were all there!

The actual wedding anniversary was Feb 14. Yes, Valentine's Day. The four of us (above) went to Cancun and celebrated. That was way fun!

So, I just wanted to let you know where I have been. My next card project is going to be Thank you cards to send to everyone. I'm sure they are going to be all the same for mass production! Be on the look out!

Mojo 200 Love & Care

Happy Monday everyone! Today is Mojo time and here is a look at today's sketch:

Technique Tips:
     - The flower stamps were colored with SU markers directly onto the stamp. I mixed both of the purple colors on the petals.
     - The patterned background paper has yellow mixed in with it, so I used the Crush Curry to lightly sponge both the quote and the flowers.
     -   Dimensionals were placed under the quote layer.

Technique Tips:
    - Ribbon: I used a sponge dobber and sponged both sides of the vanilla ribbon with Blushing Bride. The blushing bride is a soft color, so I didn't want to lay it on heavy. I also wanted to leave some of the original ribbon color showing. I like the way it turned out.
     - I learned from Teneale Williams, that you can layer with the same color. And boy, do I like that idea. You know, I have a thing for layers and it was always so hard to come up with that third or fourth color. Now, I know I don't always need another color. On the Blushing Bride layers, I just sponged around the edges to define them a bit.
   - On the Blushing Bride layer inside , I sponged and I distressed around the layer.
     - The Very Vanilla layer inside, I lightly sponged all over the layer to lessen the intensity of the color. It was "shining" a little too much.

A big first for me yesterday. I made a card after 8:30 pm last night. I can't believe it. Usually, I'm just way too tired for that, but my craft room was calling out to me. I think it was all the inspiration I had yesterday. A couple of my friends who also love to create cards, visited me yesterday and, of course, we talked about card making to include all the goodies: techniques, stamps, paper, etc. I had a great time. - the only tip I have for this card is in using the dimensionals. I added dimensionals to the top layer because the other two layers were too thick for it to lay down properly. By adding the dimensionals, it sits level over the other two layers.

The title of this post is "casing myself" because I used a sketch I had previously used when I made this card:

I remembered this layout and just knew that it would work for the pheasant stamp. See, you don't have to reinvent the wheel. At least I keep telling myself that, lol!

Technique Tips:
     - I sponged around the center image so it didn't scream "WHITE"
     - After looking at the end result, I think my sentiment should have been on white paper also.
     - Instead of using ribbon, I just cut out more Early Espresso cardstock and used that for my ribbon. Eazy Peazy!

Weekly Favorite

I am so excited and I just had to share with you. Monday morning, I was looking through my email and I had received two email notifications from Splitcoast Stampers letting me know that someone had left a comment on one of the cards I had uploaded. I went to SCS and took a look! Whew! was I blown away. There was not one, but there were two notifications that this card:

had been chosen as a weekly favorite in two categories: Clean and Simple Favorites and the General all round Favorites! I was in shock! I still am. This is the first recognition I have ever received for any of my cards. I know I'm blowing my own whistle here, but I just can't help it! I hope you don't mind! If it ever happens again, I'll try not to be so excited, lol!

Mojo 199 On the Grow

The image I used on this card has been sitting on my craft table for weeks now. I couldn't decide what paper to use or how to use it until yesterday's MOJO came out. Well, I still wasn't sure what paper I was going to use. After looking through ALL of my paper, I finally decided. I hope you like it.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: On the Grow, Watercolor Trio (sentiement)

Paper: from my local craft store

Ink: various SU markers

Other: Chantilly Lace (SU), pearls, dimensionals

Spellbinders circles and scalloped circles

sticky strip, MS punch

Technique Tips:
     - For watercoloring, I took my SU marker and scribbled on one of my clear acrylic blocks. Then I took my watercolor marker, swabbed it in the ink on the block and colored. It is easier to me than using the tops of the ink pads. I also get the color lighter if necessary.
     - I used dimensionals under both the picture and the sentiment.
     - I used sticky strip and ruched the ribbon.
     - The sketch suggested using a bow, but with my ribbon being ruched, the bow didn't look right, so I opted not to use it.

Muffin Labels

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I was busy all day Saturday. A "labor of love" actually. Yesterday was my and John's turn to bring snacks to our Sunday School class. No problem. I decided to make muffins. So, I made 12 blueberry, 12 Banana nut, and 12 apple cinnamon. All for a class of 13 but only ten of us were there. I knew I was making way too many, but I decided to leave them in the office for the staff to snack on the next day. The baking was the easy part. The time consuming part was this: (I'll explain all at the end of the pictures)

Tadah! These are the labels I made for each muffin. Was I crazy or what. I punched 216 times! 144 circles, 36 scalloped circles and 36 holes for the ribbon! The only part of the labels I stamped was the apple. The rest are computer generated.
Here is the recipe:

Stamps: Apple from the now retired Tart n' Tangy.

Ink: Real Red and Old Olive

Computer: banana, blueberries, verse. The fruit are clips from

Microsoft clip art.

Paper: Real Red from SU and the other colors are from

the craft store.

Ribbon: 1/8" white also cut 36 times :) and tied in a bow

Cellophane: Green is all I had. I probably got it for some

other holiday; perhaps Christmas? Torn 36 times.

Whew! can you see why I was so pooped at the end? But, I enjoyed doing it and as I said, it was a labor of love! Now ask me when I'll be doing it again? lol!

Technique Tips:
     - I used my markers directly on the rubber stamp. For two of the flowers, I used two different purple markers. I colored part of the flower with one marker and part of it with another to give it a variegated look.
      - I used dimensionals under the top panel to lift it up off the ribbon.
      - For the ribbon: I ran the ribbon across the front and secured it to the back. I then cut off another piece, ran it under the ribbon and knotted it once.
I know this is my second post for today (yay me!) but I wanted to get this card submitted on the Case Study website. I always link my submission back to my website. I have one more card made (I actually got two cards made today! I'm on a roll!!!!!), but I'll wait until another day to share that one!

I have some great news for you. In a previous post found HERE I told you about a new paper company I found called The Girls Paperie. Well, I just found out today, that the originator of the The Girls Paperie, Margie Romne-Aslett has resigned from the company that produced this line and has now signed up with another company and is producing a NEW line called Authentique Paper. On that page, you will see some pictures of her new line which will be available within the next few weeks. I was visiting my local scrapbook store where I found out this information. They had one of the new Authentique Paper sets on hand and I got to look at it. I just have to say, IT IS GORGEOUS! I know you are going to like it too. Vintage Memories

I am so excited for you to see this card. For one, I am so proud of it. I have never done anything like it and for the first time, I feel like Becca Feekan or Teneale Williams WOW! I mean, I feel like a real paper artist. However, there is a caveat: I have not arrived to their status. I think this was just a fluke. Fluke or not, I'll take it. I hope you like it. I called this Vintage Memories because I like to think this is a card that was very old and it was in a some sort of fire. The main focal point, the rose, could be the back of a watch pendant, a necklace pendant, or just a pin. It has weathered and crackled with age and from the heat of the fire.
Anyway, sounds kind of romantic doesn't it? I am definitely a romantic at heart!
By seeing all the above listed supplies, can you tell it took me a VERY long time to make this card. I can't even begin to tell you where I came up with the idea for it. It just came to me in bits and pieces. I knew I wanted to do something extremely vintage which I have never done before. I had just bought this crackle background stamp from Cherry Pie Art Stamps and I knew I wanted to use it. I also needed a small, feminine flower and searched through my stamp catalog. The Flower of the Month Stamp is old and I bought it from someone selling their old SU stamps. This is the first time I have used any of them and I really like the way it turned out.
Technique Tips:
     - Sponge, sponge, sponge. That's how I got the edges of the melon mambo and the very vanilla to look like they had been burned. I used the early espresso. I also sponged the inside of the card and the accent on top of the oval.
     - The accent on top of the oval is actually part of a whole other accent piece. You can see it HERE! It's the circle with the accents at each end. I just cut it in half and trimmed the edges so it fit behind the oval.
   - I used a vintage brad to look like a watch fob or just another piece of the pin/pendant.
    -   I used the raindrops/teardrops from the French Foliage set to make it look like water damage.
     - The EnFrancais background and the crackle background was stamped on the card stock after being stamped off once on scrap paper. I actually used crumb cake ink for the crackle and stamped it directly over the already colored flower. It is so light that you really can't see the lines running through the flower. Even if you did, it would look like real cracks running through porcelain or such.

It has been many a moon since I last played Mojo Monday. I am thinking I have a little of my own mojo back. Here is my submission for this week's Mojo sketch

Technique Tips:
     - I cut out the flowers and used my blender pen to "smudge" the center of the flower to give it a little more color.
     - My bow is a double loop bow. I didn't know that one of the loops was messed up until I was posting the pic (grrrr). I purchased a great bowmaker from Lee Conrey you can find HERE And while you are there check out her blog. She is an awesome card artist.
     - On the inside of the card, I sponged the bottom layer. I have been studying Teneale Williams' cards a lot and I noticed she does a lot of sponging and I really like the way it looks. I thought I would try it on some of my cards. What do you think? You'll have to leave me a comment and let me know!
- I placed a medium sized pearl in the middle of the flower to give it a little bling. It looks so much better in person. It made a world of difference in the look just by adding that one little pearl.

Two for Thursday! I can't believe it. I knew I liked this week's SC layout. And now I am using it to play along with the Pals Paper Arts
Which I haven't done in a while! Here is my card:

Technique tips:

     - I used the embossed bedding technique. I cut the strips, circle and stars, glued everything down and then ran the front of the card through the square lattice embossing folder. I have loved this look since I first saw it and I am finally utilizing it!
     - The scripture used on the inside is by Our Daily Bread Designs.
     - Yes, I did use white strips along with the red strips.
I'm going to send this card to a dear friend who lost her Grandson Sep 21, 2010, in Afghanistan. He was hit by an EOD. It has really been hard on her and I thought for July 4, this would be a great card for her. I am calling it "In Remembrance".

Flowers Abound

I cased another Teneale Williams card today. You can find her card HERE However, I must ask her forgiveness, because other than the layout, it looks nothing like hers. I didn't have the stamps she used and had to come up with something that was comparable. I don't think I hit the mark. Oh well. Here is my card. I almost think I like the inside of the card better than the outside.

Technique Tips:

- There are many layers to the outside:

- there are two layers of the pear pizzaz

- there are two layers of the very vanilla

    - There are dimensionals under the pear pizzaz layer and under the flowers.
     - the flowers both inside and out were cut from the Springtime Vintage DSP. Now if I had been as detailed as Teneale, I would have been cutting out more flowers and layering them. I was already so tired when I got through making this card, I couldn't even think straight to consider adding more flower layers. Maybe later on another card, lol!
On the Outside:
     - The top Pear Pizzaz layer is sponged in pear pizzaz
     - The top Pink Piroutte layer is sponged in Rose Red
     - The Rose Red strip at the bottom is sponged in Rose Red
     - The Pink Piroutte layer has been background stamped with one of the stamps in the Style Beautiful set.
     - Pearls were added.

On the Inside:
     - The Rose Red bottom layer is sponged in Rose Red
     - The Pink Piroutte layer on the bottom is sponged in Rose Red
     - The Flowers are popped up with dimensionals.
     - Vanilla layer and the pink layer was stamped with one of the stamps in the Style Beautiful set.
   - If I had thought about it before taking the pictures, I think I would have added pearls to the inside on the strip of Rose Red that is showing. I may even do that!
Whew! The End! I did enjoy making it. My only wish is that it could have been more like Teneale's. Sigh....

Casing Teneale

Happy Friday everyone! I have a great card I want to share with you. I have found two of the most wonderful card makers I have seen since I have been making cards. I am going to be casing a lot of their work. The first artist I'd like to introduce you to is Teneale Williams, from Australia. You are going to love her work. Teneale's card I cased can be found HERE

I have to say, my card is not as good as hers. I made a few mistakes. Hopefully, as I continue to try to make cards like this, I will get better. I forgot to put the pearls on until after I had already taken my pictures, but I did add those. The only things I changed were the green DSP and the ribbon. I didn't have either of the ones Teneale used. I attempted to sew on the green sections, but my sewing machine wasn't working right. So, I had to take out the thread and it just left the holes. That's not too bad. I didn't want to change a thing. As you can see, the card is so beautiful it didn't deserve to be changed. Here is the recipe:

Open Seas

I got four more cards made today.... sort of. Since I was running out of time, I ended up using two cards I had made from a previous stamp club meeting. I actually forgot I had them. That is so sad. This is the card I made today. Actually I made two of the same card. That made things go much faster. Here is my card:

I actually cased this card from Connie Babbert. You can find her card HERE I changed the large stamp image, the sentiment and the ribbon. The paper stayed the same as well as the sketch which is Stamping 411's sketch #204. I like this sketch!

McKenna's Birthday

Things have been hairy around here this week, literally. My dog Max, got sick and has been in and out of the vet for three days. On Monday, I had to transfer him from our regular vet to an emergency vet so he could be monitored all night. Tuesday morning I got up, picked him up and took him back to his regular vet. He was on IV fluids for three days. I brought him home on Tuesday night. He and I slept in the recliner all night; I was trying to keep him warm. Their normal body temperature is 101 and his was 97. Finally, on Wednesday, he started feeling better. Today, he is at home and playing. At one time, we thought we were going to lose him. Thank the Lord we didn't. So, that makes me a little behind in getting cards made. Especially, since I need all but one of them made by Tuesday, at the latest. I hope I make it. And, since I last blogged, I found out I needed one more birthday card. My Great Niece Mckenna will be celebrating her second birthday this month. Her card design came to me while I was sleeping last night. I was inspired by this week's Splitcoast Sketch No. 336. You can find the sketch HERE. Here is my card:

This was a simple sketch, but I thought it would work wonderfully with this gorgeous new paper I got. The paper is by The girls' paperie. I saw it first on Becca Feekan's blog (Amazing Paper Grace). June Birthday

For the month of June, I have five cards I have to make. I have two female birthdays, one male birthday, one christening, and of course, one father's day. This is the first one. I hope I get everything done. I have to apologize, between working in my yard and just not having any real mojo lately, I have not been in the card making business. Hopefully, these "have" to makes will spur me on. Here is my first female birthday card.

Her card is so much better. When I CASE someone, I feel like I have to change something so that it is not identical and most of the time, it is just not as good as the original. I think for my second female birthday card, I will make it identical and just change the sentiment. I'm not sure what size Jenna's card is. This one is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. Oh well.... it is what it is :)

   Other:     1/2" square punch, hole puncher

Technique Tips:
    - This card was not difficult, just time consuming. I used the 1/2" square punch to punch out all the squares and glued them on after I glued the blue panel on first.
    - The white "dots" are the holes from using a one hole punch. I also glued them on.
However, tedious and time consuming this was, I was bound and determined to hopefully get my muse on, lol!

Amazing Grace SC 332

Wow! I can't believe it's been ten days since I last posted. YIKES! It seems life gets in the way. I have been in my yard almost every day this week, trying to get rid of the weeds and lay down mulch. You know what I mean. My friend Barb and her husband were out walking yesterday and dropped by. She said she definitely would rather be in the house making cards! I laughed. I really do like to work in my yard almost as much as making cards. During this time of year, I feel compelled to get my yard in order for the season. Anyway..... Here is my card. This is for this week's Splitcoast Stampers sketch #322. I really love this sketch.

Mother's Day Cards

I told myself, "Today, I have to get Mother's Day cards made." So, I did and they are even in the mail, YAY!. I cased a card made by Sandee Shanabrough. You can find her card HERE Here are the two I made:

The card recipe is going to be a bit long. I used stamps from three different companies.

Technique Tips:
   - The first layer of green is the certainly celery. The second layer of green and which I used the Spellbinders Label Seventeen is Pear Pizzazz. I also used dimensionals to pop this up.
   - For the roses, I stamped once directly from the ink pad, and then stamped off twice more to get the color variations.

Back from Georgia

Hi everyone! I am back from Georgia. I had a wonderful time. I went home to attend an Alumni weekend with my fellow choir members from Brewton Parker College located in Mt. Vernon, GA. There were over 300 choir members in attendance. We actually performed a concert on April 9. Here is a video link of one of my favorite songs we sang. It's called Expression of Gratitude. That's me in the middle, on the floor,with the purple on. The blonde on your right is Sherri Kicklighter Cooper; she was my roommate my sophomore year. We had such a great time getting together. We picked up as if it were yesterday and to think it has actually been 30 years. I can hardly believe it! We are going to be getting together again in June. We'll be road tripping it to FL for some beach time and more catching up! I can hardly wait!

I hope by Monday, I'll be back in the card making business. I have two new sets I'd like to try out and show you! I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.

Easter Blossoms

Happy Monday everyone. I'm starting on my Easter cards before I leave for GA tomorrow. I'll have to finish when I get back. Here is the card I want to show you. I cased this card from Laurie Zoellmer. You can find her card and website HERE I varied it just a bit.

Card recipe:

Stamps: Easter Blossoms

Paper: Pink Pirouette, Going Gray

Other:       Going Gray satin ribbon, Tulip EF, White gel pen
                 Pink marker, Black Stazon
Technique Tips:
- I used the black stazon ink to stamp because I wanted to make sure the ink didn't smear or run when using the white gel pen. I'm not sure if it would have, but better safe than sorry.
      - I used the white gel pen and colored in the petals. I didn't take the time to be meticulous about it, I just used circular motions in the petals and got about 90% of it. I didn't want to totally do away with the black shading marks.
      - I used a pink marker and just dabbed the inner part of the flower to make it pop.
      - I didn't have any white ribbon like Laurie's and the Happy Easter stamp is much bigger than the Sending Springtime Smiles stamp. So that would have made both ovals much bigger and would have taken up too much space. I decided on just stamping directly on the card. If I had known I was going to do that, I would have given myself a little more room on the card by stamping the tree limb differently.
      That's it for me right now. I'm going to be in GA for two weeks visiting family. I have a friend and fellow SU demonstrator there, who I may be visiting and making cards with. I hope I have the time. And hopefully, I may have some new posts for you while I'm gone!

Flores Suaves SC324

Happy Wednesday everyone. Only two more days until the weekend. My DH and I are going to see a hockey game this weekend. The Buffalo Sabres are playing the Washington Capitals. It will be hard to know who to root for since John is from Buffalo. Considering we'll be sitting among mostly Capital fans, we would probably be safer to root for the ol' Caps. Besides Ovechkin is back in the game.
Ok, enough already with the hockey. Here is my card for today.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Flores Suaves

Ink: Crumb Cake, multiple SU markers

Paper: Very Vanilla, Rose Red

Other: Dimensionals

Technique Tips:
      - I used markers directly on the stamp, then I used my blender pen and filled in the white spaces.
      - I added a little color to the body of the bee and darkened down the body with black, again, using my blender pen.
      - I sponged the crumb cake along the sides of the panel where the script is and all over the face of the sentiment, just to soften it. It was WAY too bright left alone.
     - I used dimensionals under the bee (which was cut out) and under the sentiment.
I wanted this card to be soft and muted. I wanted it to have somewhat of a "dreamy" effect. It didn't turn out too bad. I hope you like it!

      This sketch is from Splitcoast Stampers, SC324, which you can find HERE .   This set, Flores Suaves, is from the Hispanic Catalog. I fell in love with it a while back after seeing it used on SplitCoast, but kept forgetting to order it, until recently. I hope to use it again soon.

Hello New Baby!

On March 23, I became a Great Aunt again! My 7th time! woohoo! Her name is Myla Rose Frank and, of course, she is beautiful. I get to see her in June when we travel to Buffalo. (That's where all of my husband's family lives!). Here is the card I made for her Mama!

Black and White Birthday

Whew! Hang on to your hats, this is going to be a long post for me. I have run across some great websites that I want to share with you. I'll post my pix first and then tell you about my new finds.
I made this card for my nephew Caleb, who just turned 20. The years are passing by way too fast. I really enjoyed making this card and it is the first time in a long time where I really felt my creative juices flowing freely. The past few months have been difficult for me. It seems I have been struggling with my creativity and I think it shows in my cards. They just haven't been up to par for me. However, this card I really, really like. The pictures are never as good as the real thing, but hopefully, you will get a feel for it. The first pic is the outside; the second is the inside.

See what I mean about my creative juices flowing? I even made a great inside. I'm not very good at that. But this could almost be another outside! Woohoo!
Card Recipe:
Stamps: Uncharted Territory, God's Blessings (sentiment)
Paper:     Old SU DSP, B&W
Ink:          Black
Other:     Scalloped oval punch, Decorative Label Punch,
              In Stitches EF (by Craft Concepts)
     If you look really close, you'll see that the white background is embossed. It is a new folder I bought called In Stitches by Craft Concepts. I purchased it from a website I discovered that is awesome for embossing folders. They have brands I have never heard of before. They are a company out of Rhode Island called Crop Stop. You can find it HERE.
They even have embossing folders that are made for the European Market. I think I have bought at least 12 of them. I really, really like them! I think you will too. AND...... they also have storage sleeves for your cards. They look like clear sheet protectors only with pockets. The 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 or A2 sheet holds four cards per sheet. They also make a 5 x 7 sheet that holds 2 cards. They may even have other sizes. Just check out their storage sleeve sections and you will see ALL KINDS of awesome things.
     The next website I want to share with you is the Stampin Place, which you can find HERE. For those of you who are unmounting your wooden stamps, they have some great cling vinyl. And it really works. It comes in a pkg of five - 9x12 sheets. (I glue it to the grey part of the stamp with a wonderful glue I found described next.)
    I also found another website to buy glue that you can use up under the vinyl or use on the stamp itself that will act as an adhesive. Here's what I mean by that. When I heat up my wooden block stamp, I remove the label as well as the rubber stamp. I then immediately reapply the label to the grey side of the stamp. Just like you would if these were the cling stamps from SU. I then applied the Sailor 2in1 glue. (It has a tip that looks like a magic marker). I only apply a small amount and swish it across the stamp. You then let it dry. Once dry, it will have somewhat of a tacky feel and it will adhere to your clear blocks. Wallah. you don't even need the cling vinyl. So now you have options. Personally, I prefer the sailor 2in1 glue over the vinyl. It means less work. However, they both work wonderful. You can find their website HERE  On the left hand side click on supplies and then click on Adhesives and tapes.

Whew! Finally, I'm done. I hope you will like some of these websites and that some of their stock will find its way into your craft inventory!

Floral birthday SC323

There is a stamp site called Tapestry Stamp Techniques that uses multiple small stamps to create background floral arrangements. I fell in love with them and unfortunately for my bank account, I had to buy a few. The only stamps I had from Stampin' Up that I thought would even come close to creating this style is the Baby Blossoms stamp set. I also used SplitCoast Sketch #323 for the design. Here is my card.

Technique Tips:
- I colored inside the oval using my sponge dauber. To leave the outside white, I left my nestie on the cut out and sponged around the nestie. This left the "white" layer. You may have to look closer to see it.
- The Paisley Petals DSP is a sneak peek at the 2011-2012 big catalog. You can order this paper along with a new set called Four Frames beginning April 1 . Here is a better sneak peek. (They are little blurry. Not sure why, sorry!)

This sketch is actually last week's. A new SC sketch came out yesterday, which I haven't even looked at it. Whew! They seem to be coming faster and faster. Here is my submission:

I'm not really sure how I feel about this flower. I think it's one of the harder ones to watercolor. There are a lot of dark lines in the stamp, so unless you use very light colors, I think everything will tend to be on the darker side. I don't know. I'm not sure if I'll use this again. I think I bought the set specifically for the sentiment in the stamp set. Sometimes, I wish you could buy these alacarte. I think I would be happier.

Oh well. It is what it is :)))))

Happy St. Patrick's Day SC321

Edit 3/8/11: I forgot to let you know how I made the clover in the first square. I used SU's small heart punch (Item #11793) and punched out three hearts. I just made a small cut out for the stem! Thanks!

Hi everyone. I thought I would try my hand at a challenge, which I haven't done in a while. This is Splitcoast's Challenge No. 321 (you can find it HERE). Since St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, I thought I would use that theme for my submission. Here is my card.

This time, I even worked on the inside. Woohoo! Here is my recipe:

Stamps: Blessed Mother, Circle Circus, Irish Blessing

Ink: Old Olive

Paper: Old Olive, B&W

Other: Square, scallop punches, Old Olive Ribbon

(one small M's stamp it's the small clover)

Considering I don't believe in luck, but rather God's divine plan, I didn't want to use anything about luck. That's when I thought about using part of the stamp from Blessed Mother. I took my Old Olive marker and colored only the words I Am Blessed. It worked like a charm (no pun intended)
I also chose two of the stamps from Circle Circus because I thought they looked somewhat Celtic? What do you think?
Choosing the Irish Blessing for my background stamp was a very, very, sentimental choice for me. The college choir I used to sing in sang this blessing song to end the concert. In case you don't know it, it goes like this (these are the words we used in the song):

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

May the rains fall softly on your fields,

And until we meet again,

Until we meet again,

Baptism Card for Gianna

Sunday, February 13, was the baptism of my great niece, Gianna. And, unfortunately, due to my illness, it was the first day I felt like making a card. I had to call my niece and let her know that it would be in the mail soon! Being sick for so long had its drawbacks when it came to being able to make cards. Whew, glad I am better. Technique Tips:

- I only embossed the top half of the card. The design of the embossing folder allowed me to place only half the card inside the folder.
- I stamped the vines from Vintage Vogue over the cross. I ended up using the same color for the cross and the vines. They did show up over the cross. I had tried to use a darker color, but it didn't turn out as well.
- I also sponged around the oval with Pretty in Pink

(I used my computer and printed out the verse)

I actually cased this saying from someone else. I'm sorry I don't know who to give credit for it. I had actually saved the image and there was no name on it. But whoever originally supplied the verse, I thank you.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello everyone and happy Valentine's Day. I have to tell you that I have been sick for the past two weeks with a wicked upper respiratory infection. I have been totally out of commission. Needless to say, no cards were made. Argh!! I didn't even have the strength to mail out the Valentine's cards I already had made. I guess I'll have to use them next year! But, I have today to finish showing what I made. Here they are and in no particular order:

Simple Valentine

A Valentine Case

Hi everyone. It has been quite awhile since I last posted. I can say that my Mojo has not been around. I was recently perusing Splitcoast stampers for some inspiration and, THANKFULLY, I was inspired by Ms. Wendy Weixler. You can find her original card HERE and here is my rendition:

Stamps: En Francais, You and Moi, Baroque Motif

Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Black, white

Other: B&W gingham ribbon, white embossing powder,

Versamark, Acanthus punch (EK Success)

Technique tips:
- I used part of the Baroque Motif stamp as the swirls in my heart.
- En Francais was used as the bigger background stamp
- I used all the individual stamps from You and Moi to create the
background for the section under the ribbon.

Hello everyone! Yes, I'm still alive. I haven't been posting, because I have not had internet connection. I used to have an air card and for some unknown reason, I can't find it. I think some elf came in and took it. That, or I accidentally threw it out, lol! So, instead of getting a new air card, I opted for DSL, which my area just got, YAY! It isn't totally up-to-speed (I have Verizon technicians coming out tomorrow) so things should be better, YAY!

I have to let you know that it will probably be the first of the year before I get back into full swing with posting. Next week, I am leaving for Georgia for Christmas. My Darling Hubby will still be here having to work, but he'll belong along later. I'm thankful I can get away earlier. Got to spend time with my family and hopefully, it will be warmer there than here, woohoo!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I wish everyone a wonderful and blessed Christmas.

Package Gift Card Holder

Hello everyone! I went to my Rapid Stampers Stamp Club meeting last night and made this great little gift card holder. Isn't it adorable?

Here's the inside (you just flip open the lid)

The red square in the middle is what the gift card is attached to. You could also add money or any other flat or semi flat object to it. This pattern would also be great for birthdays. I love the bow. I don't have the complete tutorial for this yet, but I can tell you how to make the ovals for the bow. Using the SU small oval punch, you punch out an oval. Next, you take the same paper containing the oval hole and use the medium SU oval punch. You center the medium punch over the hole and punch. Voila! You get one piece of the bow! Make as many as you want!

As soon as I get the tutorial from my up-line, I'll be sure to post it for you. I can tell you these little tidbits:
- base card dimensions: cut 8"x4" strip. On the 8" side score @ 4" for a 4x4 card.
- lid: cut 3" x 4 1/4" strip. Score on the 3" side @ 1 1/2" for fold
- bows loops were added using a brad.
- When attaching bow loops to card adjust them so that the whole "package" will fit in a standard A2 envelope (4 1/4 x 5 1/2)
- Velcro tabs were used to secure flap of lid.

A Rose Birthday

I needed a birthday card for this week and realized it was my last one. I definitely need to make a few to have in stock. I always need birthday cards. I still had not made a card for this week's sketch challenge on Splitcoast, so I decided to use it to make my birthday card. The sketch can be found HERE

I did decorate the inside and used Birthday Wishes from Sincere Salutations. I also sponged the outer oval with Pink Pirouette for just a hint of color. I think it looked better than just the blaring vanilla.

This card can definitely be used for more than just birthdays. I hope you like it!

Christmas Card #3

I just had to make another Christmas card. No, really. I had to. This is the last card I had to make for the workshop I am giving on Thursday. We are making all fall cards except this one Christmas card. It is just to whet their appetite for more to come later on.

I'm sure you noticed right off the bat that the greens don't match. Well, that was an inventory problem. The base card is supposed to be Always Artichoke just like the ovals, but alas, I ran out. In order to have enough Always Artichoke for all 15 cards I needed for the class members, I had to forgo using it for my tutorial card and scrounge up a different piece of green for my card base. It's not an SU color, so I couldn't even begin to tell you what color it is. It will have to work for instructional purposes! But, you get the drift. Here is the recipe: (the sentiment is popped up with dimensionals.)

French Foliage

My new favorite set is French Foliage. I didn't really think I was going to like it at first until I started seeing cards made using the stamp set and I was immediately sold. Once you see the images on paper, with color, it tells a new story. For me, I see images of cloudy days with the sun partially breaking through. I see romantic get-aways (specifically Paris!); love found, then love lost. The rain drops... are they rain drops or tear drops? I think both. The rainy day bringing back those heart wrenching memories. You pull out your post card or letter... remembering, and the tears fall. I'm such a romantic. Everybody say awwww... Here's my card.

I unabashedly cased this from Darlene McCallum. There are only two things I changed. I didn't emboss my vanilla background and I put my Paris postage stamp in a different place and my card based is brown. I added the Cajun Craze as another layer. Gotta have layers!!! :))))) The small blocks in the center piece are made by using the smallest square acrylic block that SU makes. Just place it in the ink (I used Sarah Sand) like it had a stamp on it and then stamp on your paper. You may want to stamp off once before stamping onto your paper. I don't think I did this time since the color was so soft to begin with.

Finally, another card. YAY! I have to admit that I just haven't been in the mood. Yes, I've been volunteering, but I have had the time to make cards. I have no muse. I'm not sure what is going on. But, I hope my inspiration returns some time soon! This is a card I made for Splitcoast Stampers Challenge Sketch 303. I actually turned mine sideways.

Most of the women that will be there have little, to no previous card making skills, so I didn't want to overwhelm them!

Christmas Card #1

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have excuses, but I'm sure you don't want to hear them ;) I'm not exactly sure how my postings are going to be running from this point forward. I signed up as a volunteer at my hospital and went to an all day orientation today. It was awesome. My goal is to volunteer quite a lot. Well, at least while I'm here. I'm still going to be visiting my family in Georgia. Thus the volunteering. I get to be out and about and "working" but still get to take off when I want to. The best of both worlds. We'll see how it works out. So, depending on how often I volunteer will reflect my postings. I hope you'll stay with me through thick and thin!

So, it's almost that time of year. If I want to make sure I get everyone in my family a card made this year, I have got to start early. Actually, I'm not sure if this particular card will get sent or not. I'm not very happy with the way the poinsettia turned out. Things did not go my way when attempting to make it. It was very frustrating.

I cased THIS CARD by LaurieF on SplitCoast Stampers. Hers is AWESOME! I want to try to make one just like it, but I need to purchase a few things. So, I thought I would try to change it up a little. I didn't add three layers like she did for the circle and background, because I couldn't think of another color that would go with the gold and red. White didn't look good and vanilla didn't look good. You get the picture. I also didn't add any bling. Here is my recipe:

Fifth Ave Birthday

Hello everyone! Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. It has been way too long since I last posted. I started posting last week and was having problems with blogger. It wouldn't let me add any photos. What kind of a post do you have without photos??? Not a good one! I actually had something different I was going to post, but I've decided to move on. I could always go back and post it later. Here is a card I made for my Sister-In- Law's birthday.

I really enjoyed making this card. Here is the recipe:

Technique Tip:
- Learning the "Feather Stroke" I took a Copic Marker Class a couple of weeks ago at my local Scrapbooking Store and learned a couple of new techniques that have really helped me out when using my markers. Of course, these same tips can be used for the Stampin' Up Markers. I rated the Feather as my number one tip. If you look closely at the petals on my flower, you'll see the feathery strokes. Remember, I'm still in the learning phase. As Sally said, practice, practice, practice.

Peace Within

Hello everyone! Here is my "project" for today! I am so excited about it and I really wish I could get my camera to convey what my eyes see. Everything is always so much better in real life. But, I hope the pictures can convey just a little bit of the true color.

I started off making one card. This is it:

I used the stamp set Peace Within and used Concord Crush DSP from the Design Patterns Hostess Set. I didn't stamp the bird which is a part of this stamp. I just wanted the basket. I really loved the way it turned out. Of course, the stamp is colored with SU markers. I really, really liked the way this card turned out so, I thought, hmmmm.... I could make a set and make one using each new In Color! Genius! :) So here is the set:

Technique Tips:
- I colored the flowers so they would complement the card base color, i.e., for the Concord Crush I used purples, for Blushing Bride I used pinks and roses. For the Pear Pizazz, Poppy Parade, and Peach Parfait, I used similar colors, all earth tones - I actually used Poppy Parade and Peach Parfait in the flowers as well as yellow, more mustard - colors like that.
- I used Certainly Celery to "draw" the stems. It went "outside" the lines so to speak, but it added depth and color to the inside of the basket.
- For the Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizazz cards, I actually added a little bit of those colors into the basket. If you look close, I got a little carried away with the Peach Parfait, but hey, it works, lol!

I was going to try to make a box of some type to put them in, but I had more of those errands to run today and I would never have gotten to post these today, so maybe that will be my project/post for tomorrow. We'll just have to wait and see! ;)

Thoughts & Prayers

Hello everyone. It is never a happy moment when I HAVE to make a sympathy card. However, this was the unfortunate occasion for me yesterday. I just found out that a good friend of my family's lost her grandson last week. He died of an IED explosion in Afghanistan. Just a young 23 years old. So, it was with a heavy heart that I made this card for her.

I have known Ms. Betty for over 30 years and know what a tragic loss this is to her and her family. I ask that you pray along with us for God to provide a peace and comfort that we know only He can give.

Hello everyone. It's Monday and I've got the blues. It's raining here and I just haven't felt like doing much all day. However, I did make a card. I really wasn't feeling like it in the beginning, but once I got started, it moved along. This is my submission for Split Coast Stamper's Card Challenge for September 22. Here is the LINK for the challenge. I really like this layout.

I tweaked mine just a little. My image was a little bigger than the sketch so I had to downsize the sentiment, but I think it fit nicely.

Technique Tips:
- I used my SU markers on the stamp so I could add the red for the flowers.
- On the Just Believe stamp that has the flowers and block image, I just used the block. Again, I didn't have the room. I tried using just one side with flowers, but it didn't seem to work right.

Card Wallet

Happy Friday everyone. I did not get around to posting yesterday. I am not sure where the day went. I had many, many errands for one thing. I kind of let those pile up on me and then I make a day of it. And it was a day; but productive.

I am so excited about today's posting. This is another first for me. I have always posted cards and this falls into the "anything but a card" category. Let me give you some background on this project before I show it too you. I am also going to have the tutorial for this for you. My friend and fellow Rapid Stamper Club Member, Barbara Borthwick has been visiting family for the past two months, gasp! Can you tell she's retired? :) Anyway, while she was in California visiting one of her children, she went to a Stampin' Up class and made this project. I am calling it a card wallet. I am sure it has another name, but alas, I don't know what it is. I fell in love with it when she showed it to me. I borrowed it from her; scrutinized it; measured it, etc., etc... No, I did not take it apart! And then I made one!! I messed up the first time, forgot something and had to start over. Breathe, Terri! So, I was more patient and didn't mess up this time! I love the way it turned out!

Do you like it?? I love the way it turned out. It will hold four cards; two in each pocket. Maybe three if they don't have a lot of layers. It was really easy to make. I plan on making more. Here are the directions!

There are two sheets to this project.
Sheet 1 - is 12 x 10
Sheet 2 - is 8 1/2 x 6 6 1/2

Sheet 1 - on the 12" side: score at 5 3/4, 6 1/4

If you are using Scor-Pal, there is no score line for 5 3/4". There's no line for it on the Scor-Pal. But easy enough to do. Just move your paper over 1/4 inch (Line it up with the quarter inch marks on the far right of the Scor pal.) It will then look like you are scoring at the 5 1/2, but you are not. There is half an inch between scores, so the second score mark will look like you are scoring at 6, but it is really 6 1/4 since you have moved your paper over 1/4 inch. Eazy Peazy.

Rotate your paper to the 10 inch side and score at 3 1/2

Sheet 2:

On the 8 1/2 inch side score at 5 3/4 and 6 1/4. Adjust if using the Scor-Pal (noted above).

Fold your score lines on sheet 1. I folded the inside lines first, then folded the bottom score line.

Tape sheet 2 to the right side of sheet. (It should be taped to the outside of the 6 1/4 score line. Fold your score lines on sheet two. This is the flap.

Add sticky strip to the outer bottom sides and the inner bottom between the score lines. I used 1/2 inch sticky strip to fit the inside and I used 1/4 inch sticky strips on the sides so it won't take up the needed room for your cards to fit inside.

After adding your sticky strip, fold the bottom half up. Refold your score lines down the center. and fold over. You are almost finished. You can decorate however you would like; add ribbon or not. Use self adhesive velcro dots for the closure. Here's the inside picture again, so you don't have to scroll to the top.

I also used 1/2 sticky strip to adhere my ribbon to the inside of the flap.

Clean and Simple Anniversary

Happy Hump Day everyone. I have a very clean and simple card for you today. I need two anniversary cards. One specifically for a 25th wedding anniversary. I thought of this idea, but I'm not sure if I am going to use it or not.

Is it too simple??? Too plain??? Please tell me what you think.

I only have two helpful techniques for you.

- You may already be doing this, but just in case you are not... I used dimensionals on the numbers. Instead of using one of the octagons to cut up (the shape the SU dimensionals come in), I used the outer remnants on the page:

I placed my tweezers on the outer edge. They look like a zigzag design. These are great for cutting up in smaller pieces and using for those tiny areas, like the numbers. This keeps you from having to mess up one of your whole pieces. Waste not, want not, my mama always said! :)
- Secondly, I used circle nestabilities for my "rings" ; the standard circles small and the standard circles large. I used the smallest die in each of the circle sets. I placed the smallest into the next smallest size which created the "cut out". Just run them through your Big Shot and you have your ring. You have to do this twice of course for two rings. To interlock them, I cut one ring, slid the other into it and made sure I glued the cut ring behind the whole ring. Eazy, peazy. I guess I should have taken a picture of the nesties. I'll try to add it in tomorrow.

Unchartered Birthday

Hello everyone! I actually was going to use this week's Mojo sketch to make this card. Well, it didn't go as planned. I really, really needed a masculine birthday card for one of my nephews. His birthday is next week. I knew I wanted to use the sailboat from Uncharted Territory. After creating that part of the image, I just couldn't get the rest of it to fit. I knew I was going to have to turn the pattern sideways - here's this week's sketch:

As you can see, It's flipped on the side, I left off the bow, left off the three embellishments and moved over the sentiment. Not really the same, but close? :)
Creation Tips:

- I stamped the boat from Unchartered Territory. Then I made a mask of the boat, so that I could sponge the water. The colors I used were Marina Mist, Pacific Point and Night of Navy. I made the blues darker along the horizon.

- Next I made another mask for the water, so that I could start sponging the sky.

This is a picture of the first attempt I made at the sky sponging process, so you will see the lower part of the sky is more red and there is the moon. I had to start over and this time, I left off the moon or the sun whichever it is, so that I could make the sky whatever I wanted it to look like. The colors I used were: Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red. I also, rethought my sponging process. Instead of going straight across like I started out doing, I started in the center of the boat and made a small circular pattern then worked outward with the darker colors blending as I went. Then darkened the top corners and along the horizon.
- Oh, one thing I forgot. I used Black Stazon and before putting stamp to paper, I used the Cherry Cobbler SU marker to mark over the smaller sections of the sail on the stamp and then stamped on paper, as you can see in the final card.

- I used my white gel pen to mark over the waves.
- I sponged Peach Parfait and Rose Red on the sentiment, from Watercolor Trio
- The strip going across the length of the card is from retired DSP Raspberry Lemonade. It has rich razzleberry running through it which pulls out the Rose Red in the sky! I wish you could see it in person. It is vibrant and stunning. I keep pinching myself! I can't believe I made this! YAY! I might be getting there. Of course, this was my second attempt at the same ocean/sky. Got to keep myself grounded;)

Thankful Home

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. This card I made Sunday afternoon and I have to say, it took me awhile. I had an idea in my head and it took some time to create. It was actually the watercoloring that took most of the time. I am soooo trying to be like the infamous SCS watercolorer Karen Barber. Here is the card:

Normally, I put the stamp recipe here, but I think I am going to start with the techniques first!

Creation Tips: (This is a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2) card.
- I knew from the start, that I wanted to make the vegetables look like they were sitting on a table. So, when I stamped the corn/pottery, I made sure I had enough blank space to place the pumpkins and have "wall space".

- I stamped the corn and jug (one stamp) in Timberland StazOn and then I took my Pacific Point Blue Marker and on the stamp, I went back over the design on the pottery.
- I used the Basic Grey Stampin' Up marker and a blender pen to provide shadowing on the pottery.
- I used Old Olive and Garden Green along with some Soft Suede on the husk. I used So Saffron and Daffodil Delight on the corn. I left some blank areas to make it look like the white kernels.

-I then stamped the pumpkins colored them with Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight and some Pumpkin Pie. I cut out the pumpkins.

- I cut out DSP about two inches deep for my tablecloth.

- With scissors, I had to cut out the bottom of the corn and up the sides, so that it would "sit" level on the tablecloth. I then glued the corn/pottery and "walls" to the tablecloth. I then glued the pumpkins next to the corn. You can trim the sides and top to make the size card that you would like.

- The "Give Thanks" stamp, I hope looks like it may be a cross stitch piece in a frame. I hope!! This was actually a mistake that I think turned out pretty good. I stamped the Give Thanks as just a sentiment and I didn't like the placement or the way it looked. I thought of using the Sizzix labels die to make the frame and I that's when I thought it looked like a frame on a wall! I think it turned out pretty good! What do you think???

SC298 Anniversary

Today is a first for me. Using pastels that is. I have owned SU's set of pastels for.... oh, at least 18 months?? and today, I finally opened the package and tried them out. And..... I love them!!! I never really knew they could be so easy to use. It's easy to mix them and blend them and just everything is easy. I am sold, sold, sold. I like them more than the markers. The only downside is using them on the small things. I need to find a paintbrush of some sort to use on the very small items. Anywho, here is my card for this week's Splitcoast's sketch challenge.

What do you think??? I know the flower doesn't seem to match the paper in the picture, but it does in person. I really like the leaves. I mixed Green Galore and Soft Suede. Love the look (This set has all the retired colors in it. Now that I know I like them, I'll have to get the new colors! :))))

Creation Tips:
- The one great thing about Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge is that all the measurements are right there for you! So easy. The sketch prints out to scale and all you have to do is measure the layers and tweak if necessary.
- Pastels. They come with brushes that look like make up brushes. Dab in the color and paint or blend. Add more color where you want it darker, or keep blending to take away color. Add one or more colors and blend away. Like I said I loved the effect I got when I blended the Green Galore and they Soft Suede.
-I know Nestabilities are not from SU, but they can't make everything. And if there is one thing I would encourage you to buy that can make card making easier for you that would be Spellbinder's Nestabilities. At least invest in the Ovals, Scallops, and circles. I don't know what I would do without them! They layer so well and just make your card look smooth and well put together. Now if they could just make some small rectangles!!!

Fall Dreaming

My title says it all. I can't help but think about fall. I get the wonderful blessing of sitting on my deck each morning, enjoying my coffee and God's beautiful handiwork. Each day, more and more leaves are turning. Fall will be upon us faster than we think. YAY! I love fall. So, here is another tribute to this season.

I'm attempting my hand at sponging. I have a long way to go. I actually somewhat cased this from Theresa Momber. You can find her design here at Crafting the Web. She is an awesome sponger. One day, I may be half as good as she is. Here is the recipe for my card. (All items are Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted.)

Creation Tips:
   - I used a mask around the top and two sides of the "window" so that when I stamped the trees, they would not show up outside of the window.
   - The orange was really a mistake. I was trying to create leaves on my trees, which didn't look right. Now, I hope that it looks like a setting sun coming through the trees.
- I used always artichoke on the ground below the trees to give it a shadow effect.
- I lightly sponged Pear Pizzazz on the sentiment to keep it from looking too bright.

In my future attempts at sponging, I want it to look more misty or dream quality like. The way it is now, you can see the circles or spots, where I first put down my sponge. I am going to try a different kind of sponge next time. We'll see. I am diligently searching the web for more sponging techniques. I need the basics. Anyone out there have any helpful hints for me? I would appreciate it very much!

Mojo 156 with Gratitude

I can't believe I didn't get this posted yesterday. I made the card; took the photo of the card, and then didn't get around to posting. I just let the day slip away from me. Oh well. It's Mojo Monday on a Tuesday. At least it's not Friday, which I have done before lol! Here is my submission.

Card recipe:
Stamps: Day of Gratitude

Paper: Autumn Spice DSP, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso,

More Mustard, Very Vanilla

Ink: More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso

Other: Scallop Punch

Technique Tips:
- The only tip I have for you today is that I used the Rock n' Roll technique again on the leaves. This technique is so great for adding more than one color especially on leaves. Always use the lighter color first, then the darker color. Using markers is a good way also, but I have found that when using markers, the lines are not as crisp as when you just stamp. They are "fuzzier". But that can be a good thing if you are going for a Monet kind of look :).

These two products are a couple of my favorites in the Mini Holiday catalog. Also, I always use a link to the clear mount stamps, but they are available in wood also. I just prefer the clear mount because I find them easier to use.

Autumn Splendor

Happy Friday everyone! I am excited to say that Inspiration is alive and well today and hopefully for a few more days to come. For some reason, I have been totally lacking in inspiration for awhile. Then yesterday, I was viewing a certain card magazine and it was chock full of wonderful and beautiful cards that inspired me from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. And needless to say to my fingers which were itching to start up a card. Here is my first CASE from this magazine.

Again with the fall. I know. I can't help myself. This card sketch was created by Melanie Muenchinger. Props to Melanie for a gorgeous sketch and card. Here is my recipe. All products Stampin' Up

Stamps: Autumn Splendor

Ink: Early Espresso

Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso, Naturals Ivory

Other: Square Lattice EF, SU watercolor pencils

Technique Tips:
- The second layer of green was stamped using the leaves from Autumn Splendor.
- I used the Naturals Ivory paper because it has linen like particles in it which gives it a more earthy quality versus plain ivory paper. I'm not sure if you can see that in the photo.
- This time I chose the watercolor pencils for my coloring medium vice the markers. The pencils blend together easier for me. I used an aqua painter for blending.

I really enjoyed this sketch and am thinking of using it again soon! I already have another card in mind! YAY! Love inspiration!

Fall Breeze

You might be seeing quite a few fall cards from me. I LOVE this time of year. Here in northern VA, the leaves are already beginning to change. I think this is my favorite time of the year. I am sitting here on my deck, along with my dog Maggie, and we are enjoying the wonderful 74 degree weather. Lovin' it!. So... here is my card.

I think this is one of the very few clean and simple cards I have ever made. I tend to go for lots of layers :). I really like the way this turned out. It looks even more wonderful in person. Here is my recipe:
Stamps: Autumn Days, Baroque Motif, Every Moment

Ink: Early Espress, various earth tone inks

Paper: Very Vanilla

Other:      Smooch Spritz in Log Cabin and Gold
Technique Tips:
   - I used the Log Cabin smooch spray first, then the gold. I sprayed out into the air the first time and then hit the cardstock. The first spray can have big globs in it and it's not nice and smooth.

   -Rock and Roll: I used the Rock and Roll Technique on the leaves. I REALLY like the way those turned out. You can find the technique tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers HERE .
        These are the color combos I used:
            Old Olive rocked onto Cajun Craze
            So Saffron rocked onto Cajun Craze
    Pumpkin Pie rocked onto Real Red
              One lone solid Cajun Craze Leaf (I'm liking that color!)
   - All the leaves are popped up with dimensionals
   - The sentiment was punched out with the new Decorative Label Punch
The label was lightly sponged with So Saffron and then the edges were sponged with Cajun Craze.

I thought the sentiment from Every Moment was perfect. You can't help but think of God when you see His wonderful handiwork. It definitely reminds me of all the wonderful gifts He has blessed me with.

Pals Paper Arts 57 and 58

Whew! I am so making up for lost time. I can't believe I have posted twice in one day!! I'm sure that won't happen again any time soon! I know Pals Paper Arts 57 has already closed, but I still wanted to use the sketch. However, PPA 58 is still open and the requirements for it is to use Pearls.... So guess what, I used pearls on the sketch for PPA57!! Two birds with one stone! woohoo! I needed a get well card, so that is why I chose the get well sentiment.

Here is my recipe:
Stamps: Every Moment, Sincere Salutations, Fast and Fabulous

Paper: Blushing Bride, basic gray, vanilla

Ink: Black Stazon, Basic Grey, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette,

Melon Mambo, Regal Rose

I actually made my own background paper. I started with the very vanilla. Using the Fast and Fabulous two-step stamps, I stamped the outline image in basic gray. Then I used Pink Pirouette with the fill-in stamp. I really, really like the Fast and Fabulous set. I know it's a hostess set. That is all the more reason to host a card party and get this Fabulous set. Only $150 in sales will get you this great set!

Hello everyone! I'm finally getting around to submitting my Mojo for Monday! Only about a week late. Here is my submission:

I'm still in this "fall" mood, so I went with something for Halloween. Here is my recipe:
Stamps: Wicked Cool

Paper: Wicked Fun Specialty DSP, Cajun Craze, B&W

Ink: Cajun Craze, Black

Other: Scallop punches, circle punches,

1/8" Taffetta Ribbon in black
I really like this speciality paper. I know you probably can't see it, but some of the dots on the paper are flocked. There is another sheet with bats on it and they are flocked also. It is too cute!

Fast and Fabulous

I have a wonderful, clean and simple card today. I CASED (copy and share everything) this card from Theresa Momber. Here is her website, Crafting the Web. She illustrates for Gina K Designs. She is a very talented artist and I have just found out about her work. I am sure there will be more offerings to her work in my near future :). Here is my card.

Naturally, there are a few things I changed. Here is my recipe:
Stamps: Fast and Fabulous (flowers)

Great Friends (Leaves)

Sincere Salutations

Paper: Melon Mambo, white, black

Ink: Melon Mambo, Rose Red, Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive

Creation Tips:
      1. The small, black lined square on the white inset was made using a ruler and the fine tip of my black Stampin' Up Marker. This was done according to Theresa's method! I did a little practice run on white paper before I attempted it on the card itself. I also used the Stampin' Up grid paper. I aligned the white piece of cardstock and used one of the 1/4" grid lines to set my indentation and spacing. It worked like a charm! I think I may be using this method again in the future!

      2. Two-step stamping: I have always found this to be hard to do. I stumbled upon this method clearly by accident. This tip is for the clear mount stamps. I stamped the outline stamp first, and then the fill-in second. On the fill-in stamp, I made sure that I cut the rubber much closer to the image. This way, you can actually "see" the first image you stamped and the exact point where you need to stamp. (You really only need one point of orientation.) It made it much simpler! I won't be afraid to use my other two-step stamps in the future! (after cutting the rubber, hahaha!)

     3. Leaves: I used my Stampin' Up markers for the leaves. I colored the stamp with Pear Pizzazz first, and then took my Old Olive marker and lightly marked down the center of each leaf and also marked 3/4 of the stem. This gave the leaves the two tone look of shading.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed making this card. This is the first card in a long time, that I have had this much enjoyment in making. I'm not sure what the difference was, but it was there!

You are My Sunshine

Hello everyone! I got some new stamps this week. (Shhhhh, they are not Stampin' Up!!! Don't tell on me.) I wanted some stamps with flowers. I really don't have enough in my inventory. I'm sure my darling husband would disagree! Naw, he doesn't really care. Anyway, I was on SplitCoast Stampers and saw something that guided me to Flourishes website and I decided on the Sunflowers. Here is my card. I hope you like it.

I was happy the way this turned out. Of course, everything else I used on the card was Stampin' Up. I have been dying to use the big wide ribbon and now I have finally used it, YAY! Here is my recipe:
      Stamps: Sunflowers, Set #105 by Flourishes
      Ink:        Early Espresso, various SU Markers
      Paper:    Early Espresso, Old Olive, watercolor paper
      Other:     1 1/4" wide grosgrain ribbon, Early Espresso
This stamp is the second smallest sunflower. There is a bigger one that I think I might do next. I have been enjoying the watercoloring aspect of it as well. Also, I noticed that I have been gravitating toward fall colors. Hmmm, I must be subconsciously wishing for Fall! It could be because here in Virginia, we have been having fall like weather. I even saw a few trees starting to change their leaves, woohoo! I love fall around here!

MOJO 153

Hello everyone! I am so sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday. It was finished, pictures taken, etc., but I was working in the yard; got carried away and before I knew it, I was too tired to do anything else for the evening.

This card is actually my second take on this week's MOJO!

I really wasn't happy with my first one... not gonna post it.... so here is my second one. This one I like very much!
